they are back! the parisian duo formed by cosmic neman (also herman duenes drummer) and etienne jaumet, continues as a ufo his incredible odyssey on the indie scene. an odyssey in the form of meteoric rise. zombie zombie claims since its inception his passion for krautrock and some form of cinematic music. the zombie zombie inevitably evokes bands such as neu, silver apples, suicide, goblin or ... john carpenter soundtrack ... and the inevitable happened!

bergerac is the new record label set up by uk producer and dj red rack’em (aka danny berman) to showcase the more dancefloor end of his music productions. danny is well known for his wonky disco outings as hot coins on tirk and also his deep as hell beatdown house on untracked. his style of production and djing have recently taken a slightly more banging angle due to the influence of larger scale festival gigs such as glastonbury, snowbombing and the big chill. so it seemed like the perfect time to start a label focussing on house and techno for the more discerning dancefloor. the label artwork will feature bespoke illustrations from german artist silke eiselt of all the houses danny has lived in chronologically. how much more fucking house can you get than that? how i program is a raw, heads down, whacked out banger, which straddles the wafer thin divide between house and techno with aplomb. with a massive loud donking bass noise, seedy late night atmosphere and danny shouting about how he programs his shit - this is some freaky deaky peak time business. next up is bonn, a warm crackly rhodes driven halcyon house moment, which evokes the slightly majestic and nostalgic vibe of people dancing alone together in a hot room at the end of the night. cheering sourced directly from bonn in 1982 mixes with naive keywork and distant female chants the first bergerac ep closes with it happens to us all, which could be an ode to prematurely greying men, the onset of senility or occasional farting in public places. its definitely a prime slice of wrong house with some seriously french hi hats and dubbed out bassline action though. yes, its more syncopated than an exploding castanet factory but thats how we like that kind of funk

two tracks taken from the turn the page lp. a side >release< - calming things down a little, >release< continues the tempo with a bouncing bass and booming sub to match as delicate synth stabs and vocal washes trickle over the top to make for a great cut as the lp journey picks up pace. aa side >the sleeper< is anything but with its rollin? bassline and stepping drums that smash any club when dropped. a sure-footed crowd pleaser that shows the guys getting seriously engrossed in some vintage d&b vibes.

>the voices< is the debut 12 inch from bobby and annie. drawing on their experiences as residents at the mint club, uk, the pair have crafted a versatile ep that sits as comfortably in a peak time set as it does on a hazy 6am dance floor. taken from a collection of vocal out-takes the voices have been cleverly obscured through various production techniques and layered around drums and old school analogue synth lines to unique effect. the results are two haunting, hypnotic, yet upbeat dj tools. the title track, >voices<, uses deftly interwoven vocal samples as the focus and driving hook. shuffled percussion takes a back seat amidst a discordant, attention-grabbing synth interlude that harks back to the playful garage sound of90s chicago house. the outcome is dramatic, intense and functional. on the b-side, >loose ends<, is a more rugged affair that gives the bass and drums centre stage. the vocals are pitched and trippily float in and out of the track whilst the familiar sound of fairlight stabs punctuate the groove. the effect is eerie, yet accessible, and rounds off this stunning ep.
